In our effort to balance serving our customers with the financial sustainability of our business, we have decided to go with appointments to bring items into our store. Y'all have so much amazing quality clothing and we'd love to buy everything that people bring in! However, it just doesn't work that way. We have to monitor and control the number of items that come into our store per day. We're hoping that appointments will be the easiest way for all of you to be able to pick a time to bring items in.
We will no longer accept drop-offs starting Oct. 2nd. We will now make weekly appointment slots available every Sunday night at 5pm CST for the following week. So, you'll have a full week to sign up for an appointment the following week. We will only allow one appointment slot per week per customer to allow the most people as possible to sign up for an appointment time.
Please continue to abide by our existing policies of no more than 25 adult items OR 50 kids items per visit.
People have been asking about kids gear in relation to the 50 item limit. If you only have one or two peices of equipment or a toy or two, then you can bring those on top of 50 kids clothing items. If you have lots of gear or toys, then they need to be part of the 50 item limit. Gear and toys take a lot of time to put together and test, research pricing, and monitor recalls. Thanks!

The Getup is a local, women run, sustainable boutique that buys and sells gently loved clothing, accessories & gear for kids and adults. We serve our community by offering to buy clothing and gear that people can’t bring themselves to give away and by selling a hand curated selection of quality items at a reasonable price. This fosters a circular economy model of keeping items out of the landfill and in a cycle of use. We strive to build connections and community through sustainability, affordability and genuine customer service.
These are our values:
Community – Without our customers, we wouldn’t be here. We strive to get to know you and make sure that we provide the things you need and love, because we all know the real draw of shopping second hand is the thrill of the hunt!!
Quality – All of the clothing and gear at The Getup is hand curated by our employees who know YOU! We know the brands and styles you love and we make sure we’re only taking the best of the best so you’ll have quality items at your fingertips when you come into shop.
Affordability – Clothing and gear at The Getup is priced, in general, at 40% of retail prices, but sometimes as low as 20% of retail.
Sustainability – At The Getup, we believe in the benefit of a circular economy. A true circular economy is not easy to achieve, but we are committed to contributing to the system. Our approach not only supports our local economy by paying our customers to shop and by providing quality, affordable clothing, it also impacts the environment by keeping clothes and gear out of the landfill and within a cycle of use.
We pay cash or store credit for everyday items like kid & adult clothes, shoes, accessories, and gear. We generally price items at 40% of retail and give you 20-50% back based on what price point we price the item to sell.
We consign items that are more expensive (like designer handbags, prom dresses, etc.). We will let you know what items will need to be consigned and negotiate a split for items. We generally do a 70/30 split with consignors. You will have a 90 day contract. After 90 days, if the item hasn’t sold, you can come pick your item up or choose to donate it.
We only take items in by appointment. New appointment times go live on Sundays at 5pm for the following week. The link to find the appointment page is at the top of this page.
Our goal is to process items the day they come in. It also depends on the amount and number of buys we have that day, but we will communicate with you and give you an estimated time frame for when you should receive your offer. In general, it usually takes about 30 minutes - 1 hour to process & enter your items. But that can vary depending on the amount of drop offs and appointments on any given day. We appreciate your understanding and flexibility!
We love luxury/designer goods! We’ll get you a consignor contract to look over and sign. There is a $25 authentication charge if we need to authenticate your items. We will not take counterfeit items. We will negotiate a payout (generally 70/30), and you will be paid once the item sells. If your item(s) don’t sell within the 90 day time frame, you can take your items back or you can choose to donate them.
You can pick up cash in the store, we can send a check, or Venmo or Paypal your money. If you choose store credit, it will go directly into your account and you can use it in store or online! Store credit money never expires.
Absolutely! When you go to purchase items online, enter your cell number associated with your account. We’ll tell you how much store credit you have and apply it to your purchase.
Your items could go to a variety of different places. We have several organizations that we’re involved with, including a Native American reservation in South Dakota that we donate seasonal items to quarterly with the help of fantastic volunteers in our community (Thanks to Anne Juergens, Nancy Nelson & friends!)
We also sometimes collaborate with Kaden’s Kloset, schools in our community that are in need of certain clothing items, or we donate to The Depot Outlet.
We ask that you come and collect your items as soon as possible. We can hold items for up to two weeks. After that 2 week period, the items will be donated.
One of our core values is providing quality items to our community, we can’t in good conscience buy items that could potentially be hazardous to the health of our customers. Because of the various health, safety and labor conditions involved with fast fashion brands, we’ve taken careful consideration and decided to be very picky about buying these items and carrying them in our thoughtfully curated boutique.
We want quality items that will last for more than a season. If we were to buy already low-priced, fast fashion, our store would be full of items that aren’t built to last. We get it – fast fashion brands have some really adorable items! But we want you to have access to high-quality brands that are going to last you many years or be passed along to the next person.
We also can’t take counterfeit items because again, we care about providing genuine, quality items to our community. If we have a store full of counterfeit items, that lowers our credibility and goes against our mission.
